The storytellers of Global Mimi and Lisa, recommend their favorite children’s books!

Saturdays often means storytime in english for children at Global. Here are some book tips from Mimi and Lisa, the storytellers of Global:

MimiDisa

-My name is Mimi. I teach children of all ages in English. I have loved books since I was a child. I love to read. When my first child was old enough to listen I found that I loved to read even more!

My favourite books are those written by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, among them: Snail on the Whale and Room on the Broom. The rhyming texts are brilliant, the stories touching and the illustrations fantastic!

-My name is Lisa. I work as an English mother tongue teacher and have lived in Sweden for 7 years. My childrens book tips are:

Oh, the places you´ll go is a book suitable for kids aged from 6 upwards. In this classic Seussian tale, the good doctor primes his readers against all the little mishaps and misadventures that can befall even the best of us – from bang-ups and hang-ups to lurches and slumps – encouraging us to take life in our stride!

Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson is suitable for kids aged 3 and upwards. The story is about a monkey who loses his mum, he meets a butterfly who helps him find her. Its a favorite book in my house!

Mr Stink by David Walliams is suitable for ages 6 and up. It all starts when Chloe makes friends with Mr Stink, the local tramp. Yes, he smells a bit. But when it looks like he might be driven out of town, Chloe decides to hide him in the garden shed. Now Chloe’s got to make sure no one finds out her secret. And speaking of secrets, there just might be more to Mr Stink than meets the eye… or the nose.
